George Munsey | Player of the Match: It's okay (the injury), it's not great. We will see how we go tonight and try and do what we can for the rest of the week. I'm always looking to improve, thought the guys did really well. We fought like everything in the field, guys took their catches and Watty (Mark Watt) was outstanding with his figures and the way he bowled, just class. It was a real good performance. The guys took the pressure off me in the middle after that rain delay, I enjoyed the start and found it a bit trickier after the break but I always enjoyed playing here in Australia. We knew we had enough on the board to defend and that's how we went about it.
Pooran: Tough loss for us. I guess we got to do the hardwork now. 160 was a par score. The middle-order batting was disappointing. Definitely not. We got reflect and get better. Next two games are must win. I guess when you perform bad as players, you want the next game to come as quickly as possible. I don't think we were complacent. We did get off to a good start, but disappointing after the powerplay.
Berrington: It's a special win for us. Lot of hard work has been put in for this in the last one year. We haven't had as much as T20 cricket as we would have liked. We were looking at a few more after the start we got off to. But we knew this was a competitive score. The bowlers were exceptional.
Davey to Holder, FOUR, full toss, need more of these, the West Indies. Holder smashes it over mid-wicket
Overs 18.0 Score 116-9
Mark Watt to Odean Smith, out Caught by Chris Greaves!! Catch it is the cry, taken really well overhead with some backward steps. Again Mark Watt delivers from behind the stumps, full ball, so Smith thought he could tee off. Hit it pretty well but hit it flat. Long-off was in and this could flown over but Greaves was very good. Third wicket for Watt. Odean Smith c Chris Greaves b Mark Watt 5(8)
Overs 16.3 Score 103-9
Mark Watt to Alzarri Joseph, out Caught by Matthew Cross!! Edgeddd and gone! Good catch and Alzarri Joseph can't believe his eyes. Mark Watt delivered that from way behind the crease like he often does. Was a simple flatter delivery outside off stump, Alzarri was late on the cut shot, got a thick deflection which is was very well held. 79/8. Still Smith to follow. Alzarri Joseph c Matthew Cross b Mark Watt 0(1)
Overs 14.0 Score 84-8
West Indies just need a partnership. The asking rate is still under 10 and they still have power left in the tank.
Overs 11.0 Score 72-5
Mark Watt to Brandon King, out Bowled!! Cleans him up. Mark Watt says leave it to me, I'll take care of everything. It's the gesture we are talking about here. Fired it quicker and hit the top of off. The length was neither full nor shot, pushed Brandon King onto the back foot and gave him no room whatsoever. Got the ball to skid through and beat him on the cut. Brandon King b Mark Watt 17(15) [4s-3]
Overs 8.0 Score 60-3
Safyaan Sharif to Lewis, FOUR, drifting into the pads at 129ks, Lewis gets inside the line and helps it away to the fine leg fence with a neat tickle
Overs 4.0 Score 34-1
Davey to Mayers, out Caught by Munsey!! Excellent catch by Munsey. Davey shortens the length and cuts the pace while angling it into the left-hander, Mayers tries for a whippy flick but doesn't time it as well as he would have liked. Skews it off the thick inside half and the fielder from mid-wicket runs across to take a fine sliding catch to his left. Mayers c Munsey b Davey 20(13) [4s-3 6s-1]
Wheal to Mayers, FOUR, poor bowling this. No-one behind square on the off-side and he bowls a short of length delivery wide of off, Mayers waits on the back foot and steers it behind point for a second successive boundary
Overs 2.0 Score 10-0
Odean Smith to Munsey, FOUR, edgeddd and it escapes between keeper and short third man. Short of a length delivery angling across, Munsey moves across and slogs, gets lucky with the edge and the Scotland fans are happy with 160 on the board
Overs 20.0 Score 160 - 5
Alzarri Joseph to Chris Greaves, Shorter and on middle, Greaves pulls it down to long on and takes one.
Overs 16.6 Score 128 - 5
Alzarri Joseph to Michael Leask, OUT! TIMBER! You miss, I hit! A little too quick for Leask and Alzarri Joseph has another one! He sees Leask make room and bowls a yorker on middle, Leask looks to carve it but misses. Really good stuff from Alzarri Joseph!
Overs 16.3 Score 125 - 5
Odean Smith to Michael Leask, A leg bye to end! On the pads, Leask looks to flick but misses. It hits the pad and rolls no the leg side. A leg bye taken.
Overs 15.6 Score 122 - 4
Alzarri Joseph to Richie Berrington, OUT! TAKEN! The short ball does the trick yet again! Alzarri Joseph strikes! The extra pace does the job. Shorter and on middle, Richie Berrington looks to pull but it hits the splice as he is late on the shot and lobs to mid-wicket. Kyle Mayers takes an easy catch.
Overs 11.5 Score 86 - 3
Alzarri Joseph to Richie Berrington, OUT! TAKEN! The short ball does the trick yet again! Alzarri Joseph strikes! The extra pace does the job. Shorter and on middle, Richie Berrington looks to pull but it hits the splice as he is late on the shot and lobs to mid-wicket. Kyle Mayers takes an easy catch.
Overs 11.5 Score 86 - 3
Odean Smith to Richie Berrington, Not sure why the fielder did not go for the catch! Shorter and outside off, Richie Berrington slashes at it, it goes off the outside edge towards third man. Akeal Hosein runs back and across rather than ahead. He collects the ball on the bounce and also concedes an extra run. Two in total. Pooran is not happy and rightly so.
Overs 9.6 Score 72 - 2
Rain stops play!!
And we are off. The groundstaff waited a couple of minutes, expecting the wind to blow the rain away but wasn't to be. Off go the players and on come the covers. Not heavy rain, but heavy enough to keep us waiting.
Overs 5.3 Score 52 - 0
Akeal Hosein to Michael Jones, A single to end! Fifty up for Scotland and it comes up within the Powerplay. Another good over for them. Jones pushes the last ball down to long on and takes one.
Overs 4.6 Score 50 - 0
Kyle Mayers to George Munsey, FOUR! The over starts with a boundary and ends with one too! 16 from the over. A very risky but a clever shot. Shorter and on off, Munsey makes room, he manages to upper cut it past the keeper and into the third man fence. Scotland will be very happy with the start they are off too.
Overs 2.6 Score 26 - 0
Kyle Mayers to George Munsey, FOUR! Two in a row! Mayers is looking for that outswing and hence, is starting from the leg pole. No swing and it is easy pickings for Munsey who yet again flicks it wide of deep square leg for another boundary.
Overs 2.2 Score 18 - 0
Kyle Mayers to George Munsey, FOUR! Whipped away! On the pads, Munsey loves it there, he whips it behind square on the leg side for a boundary. Mayers is leaking boundaries here.
Overs 2.1 Score 14 - 0
Kyle Mayers to Michael Jones, PUT DOWN! Tough chance though! That had to stick! Jones yet again uses his feet, this is fuller and on middle, it is driven back firmly towards the bowler. Mayers gets a hand to it but can't hold on. Three dots to end but a good first over for the batting side.
SC0 9-0 after 1 over
We are moments away from the first ball! The players make their way out for the National Anthems! It will Scotland singing their first and then West Indies will follow.
Scotland (Playing XI): George Munsey, Michael Jones, Matthew Cross(w), Richie Berrington(c), Calum MacLeod, Chris Greaves, Michael Leask, Mark Watt, Josh Davey, Safyaan Sharif, Brad Wheal
West Indies (Playing XI): Kyle Mayers, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran(w/c), Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Odean Smith, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy
Richie Berrington: I would be tempted to have a bowl first with some of the moisture around. It's gonna be fast-scoring and hopefully we can get off to a good start. Lot of learnings from last tournament, our 50-over cricket has gone well this year and I think we can take a lot of confidence from that. Chris Sole, Craig Wallace, Hamza Tahir and Brandon McMullen have been left out.
Nicholas Pooran: We are gonna have a bowl. New pitch and just to have a look at the conditions. We are motivated, not taking it for granted. Fletcher, Reifer, Cariah and Charles are out today.
Tom Moody confirms that there is no rain but the conditions are slightly overcast. Seamers will definitely enjoy the proceedings. He also mentions the pitch to be good for the batters, but warns them on the field dimension.
Leg side boundary is bit long as compared to the off side.
