According to the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD)  recent forecast, Saturday is expected to bring light rain and strong winds to the National Capital Region (NCR). It is predicted that the maximum temperature will be about 33 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be about 26 degrees Celsius. The weather forecast suggests that Delhi-NCR is likely to encounter light rains with mostly cloudy skies until July 9, followed by an escalation in rainfall over the next few days.

A day ago, there was 0.6 mm of rain in Delhi (Safdarjung), with drizzles in Palam, 0.6 mm at Lodi Road, and 2.7 mm at Ridge. The weather department predicts a rise in temperature and a spell of humid heat for Delhi, despite the possibility of light rainfall. Even though it is not predicted to be entirely dry, there may be sporadic drizzles. Furthermore, according to the IMD, on a particular day, the maximum temperature was 33.2 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal, and the minimum temperature was 27.1 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below normal. There was a range of 73 to 91 percent humidity.

Remarkably, in the first seven months of this year, 74% of the total rainfall fell in a single day, and the number of days with 100 mm of precipitation in July and August is increasing. Despite keeping the monthly rainfall within the typical range, this trend suggests that the monsoon may not be reliable.

Cognizant of the potential impact of heavy rainfall, the Delhi government has established a 24x7 flood control room to oversee real-time data from the Hathnikund barrage, which regulates the release of water into the Yamuna river. Officials have emphasized the preparedness to address flood-related challenges, with the control room set to operate as a fully computerized monitoring unit. The government has affirmed that in the event of the discharge of more than one lakh cusecs of water from the barrage, all relevant agencies, including the flood control department, will be mobilized.

Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department's outlook indicates generally cloudy skies with light rain, thunderstorms, and lightning on Saturday, with expectations of heavy rainfall over the subsequent four to five days.
