As Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s dharna against LG Anil Baijal entered third day, hundreds of Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders held a protest march against the Lt Governor in Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Wednesday.
Around 500 AAP supporters gathered outside the Chief Minister’s official bungalow and held a protest march till Raj Niwas, which is a 10-minute walk.
To control any untoward incident, the Delhi Police had done intensive barricading.
Placards with messages such as ‘LG saab, ration vyasvastha theek karo (Mr LG sir, please fix the ration system)’ and ‘Modi Ji, Dilli se badla lena band karo (Modi ji, please stop taking revenge from Delhi)’, the ruling AAP has taken out the war against the LG on the streets.
However, it is still not clear whether LG Baijal is present at Raj Niwas or not.
Earlier in the day, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that he has asked for an appointment with President Ram Nath Kovind alongwith party lawmakers and legislators from Delhi and Punjab.
"It's an Emergency-like situation in Delhi. The entire work of the Delhi government is crippled due to strike by IAS officers for past four months," Singh said, adding that the Lt Governor was working at the "behest" of the Modi government.
Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal, deputy Cm, Manish Sisodia along with Gopal rai and Satyendar Jain have been sitting on a dharna at Raj Niwas’ waiting room since Monday evening.
The AAP government's demands to the LG include direction to IAS officers to end their "strike", action against those who have struck work for "four months". It has also asked the L-G to approve the proposal for doorstep delivery of rations.
However, the IAS association on Tuesday ahd issued a statement and termed all reports on ‘strike as baseless’. The statement also added that all officers are ‘working with full vigour’.
