The Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit on Monday trained its guns on the AAP government for awarding "less compensation" to the family of Ankit Saxena, who was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend's family. Drawing parallels between the amount given to the family of deceased NDMC official, MM Khan, state president Manoj Tiwari accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being partisan towards Saxena.
Recounting his visit to Saxena's home a day after he was killed, Tiwari shared how the victim's father spoke against communalising his son's death. "I was moved by the magnanimity of the man who said that the only thing that matters to him was justice. Unfortunately, he is being discriminated against by the CM in awarding him compensation. Khan's family got Rs one crore as ex-gratia while the Saxena's were handed over only Rs 5 lakhs," he claimed. The BJP leader said that Kejriwal was indulging in petty politics and behaving like an"urban naxalite".
The state BJP head also reacted sharply to the 'Vikas Yatra' being taken out by the Aam Aadmi Party on completing three years in power. Mincing no words, Tiwari called it "Vinaash Yatra" for pushing Delhi's development 30 years behind.
Blaming the Delhi government for poor civic conditions, Tiwari said that it will release a white paper on February 14 as part of week-long activities by the party to call out the "lies" spun by Kejirwal. He informed that a 'jan andolan' will be initiated from Wednesday where they will also invite residents to participate. "We will gherao AAP MLAs and hold protest marches in markets, metro, colleges and a final march will be taken out from Rajghat to the secretariat," he said.
"The government has failed to provide any facilities to Delhi or implement schemes that will benefit the aam aadmi. Its only agenda in the last three years has been corruption. It is very surprising to see a party that championed the cause of corruption with its head buried neck deep in it," said Tiwari.
