The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Saturday sealed a portion of the Jamia Hamdard Institute of Medical Science and Research Hospital, owing to a violation in the building plan. The civic body has sealed the ninth floor of the hospital's B-block, said officials.
"The owners had made the floor without getting the building plan sanctioned. The portion has been sealed under section 349 of the DMC Act, 1957," a senior official said. The civic body has passed the demolition orders for the said property under section 343 (I) of DMC Act, 1957.
The assistant engineer of the South Corporation's Central Zone had called upon the registrar of the Jamia Hamdard, owner, builder and occupier to vacate the premises within 24 hours of the receipt of the order so that the corporation can take demolition action against the occupier.
The civic body had sealed a number of unauthorised constructions last year as well. The East Corporation had sealed seven illegally functioning factories in Usmanpur on Thursday.
"We carried out the sealing drive despite protests by locals," said an East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) official.
