The lackadaisical approach towards the safety of children was exposed as the Supreme Court's directive to avoid the use of iron channels in schools was again flouted.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 8:30 am when the victim identified as Bhavya Sharma, a student of Class 12th of Delhi Public School, was on way to his class. The boy was immediately rushed to Yashoda hospital.

According to victim's family members, they received a call from the hospital at around 9 am that their son has been brought to the hospital. As they reached the hospital, they found that he accidentally got his finger chopped in the iron channel in the school.

After the news spread, the family members and media persons rushed to the hospital where the hospital staffers misbehaved with a scribe. A complaint was registered with the police.

"Prima facie investigation showed that the boy was injured accidentally. We received no complaint in the matter as the victim's family agreed to the boy's statement that he lost his finger accidentally. However, an investigation in the case has been initiated to find out whether the school has flouted the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, we have registered a case of misbehaving against the hospital staffers on the complaint given by a journalist," said Atish Kimar Singh, Circle officer-II, Ghaziabad.

When DNA contacted the principle of the school, she did not answer the calls.
