Demanding an FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a group of senior Congress leaders met Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Thursday. A delegation led by Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken submitted a complaint to the Delhi Police Commissioner based on the Shunglu Committee report.
"The Shunglu Committee report, which examined 404 files of the Delhi Government, has indicted the Kejriwal government on various cases of corruption, nepotism and gross abuse of official position by various public servants within the AAP Government, including the Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues and his near and dear ones," Maken said.
Congress candidates in 272 Municipal wards also filed complaints in their respective police stations seeking the registration of FIR against Kejriwal, his cabinet ministers, and officials of the Delhi Government following the exposure made by the Shunglu Committee report.
The Shunglu Committee, comprising V.K.Shunglu, a former Comptroller and Auditor General, N. Gopalaswami, former Chief Election Commissioner and Pradeep Kumar, former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, examined 404 files pertaining to various decisions taken by the AAP Government, and the findings of the committee unearthed many serious cases of corruption and irregularities under the Kejriwal government.
Members of the party had earlier met President Pranab Mukherjee and had sought the registration of an FIR against Kejriwal for siphoning off public funds to extend "illegal benefits" to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Quoting the Shunglu Committee report Maken said the report has noted that, "it is clear that the decision to allot land to political parties was really to validate allotment of Government accommodation to AAP and nothing more, because it is common ground that the elected 42 individuals having connections with the AAP and their leaders were appointed in the office of the Chief Minister and various Ministers without verifying their antecedents."
"Crores of rupees were spent by the Delhi government to pay salary to these people. Some of them were paid in lakhs. Also, 29 individuals were appointed to the Delhi Dialogue Commission — the policy-making wing of the Delhi Government," he added.
