According to the NGO, they carried out a survey in the area and found out that high electricity tariff was one of the major cause of concern among the residents.

In an attempt to educate the urban poor to conserve electricity and train them to help the larger cause of a green Earth, Believers Eastern Church, an NGO, with the help of Noida's BJP MLA, Pankaj Singh would hold an event at JJ cluster in Sector 50 on April 21.

According to the NGO, they carried out a survey in the area and found out that high electricity tariff was one of the major cause of concern among the residents.

"We found out that the community in sector 50 cluster is needy in many ways. But, we found out that the common man is suffering from the high tariff bills. As an initiation and after conducting the survey, we decided that there is a need to educate and train the villagers how to conserve energy," said Jagan Mohan Rao, an official of Believers Eastern Church.

Rao said they have decided to provide the families with CFL bulbs which will help them cut short their bills and stop them from using other bulbs.

"Lighting is the most basic use of electricity at home. This is because LED bulbs consume less electricity, last longer, and do not contain mercury. The LED bulbs are cheap as well," said Rao.

During the event, Pankaj Singh, who is also the son of HM Rajnath Singh, will take part in this awareness camp.

"I think this is an excellent initiative, everyone should come forward and do something for the mother Earth. Spreading awareness on how to conserve electricity is also a part of it which is the basic need of each family," said Singh.

Lighting share in the total residential electricity consumption is estimated to be in the 18% - 27% range.
