The monthly meeting of Delhi BJP was marred with heated arguments, ruckus

There seems to be no end to the infighting that has been simmering inside the Delhi BJP unit for a long. Sources said that matters have come to such a pass that hardly any meeting of the working committee goes without fireworks.

On Tuesday too, the monthly meeting of Delhi BJP was marred with heated arguments, ruckus and a mudslinging match. Sources said that Former minister Vijay Goel openly pulled up the members. Sources claimed that the atmosphere within the party is so acrimonious at the moment that a section of members had decided to hold the meeting outside party office at Pant Marg. However, the plans were cancelled when Delhi BJP general secretary Siddharthan got whiff of it. Two senior leaders handling media and social media also came to blows in the meeting, displaying the chinks out in the open. Spokesperson Harish Khurana and Pratyush Kant got into a heated argument over media coverage. Kant refused to agree to Khurana's argument of granting equal importance to all publications irrespective of their leadership. The two leaders came to blows, leaving Goel visibly miffed.

The alleged display of indiscipline prompted Goel to pass scathing remarks. "He bluntly told members that with this kind of attitude and bickering won't help defeat Arvind Kejriwal. We must put out differences behind us and strive to win the elections," Goel said.

He also expressed his displeasure at zonal members who, according to him, were not ideating on their own and doing only those tasks that were assigned to them.

Another thing that left many senior members surprised was no respects were paid to former chief minister Madan Lal Khurana who passed away recently. "This was the first party meeting held after his demise, yet there was no agenda on paying last respect to him. This is not a very good thing," said a senior leader.
