Delhi Chief Secretary on Wednesday instructed the Directorate of Education to involve maximum number of students from schools and universities in the ongoing cleanliness drive. "Students should be told to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily life. The capital city must lead the other cities in the country in this cleanliness drive," he said.

The Bal Swachta Abhiyan will be launched on November 14 by the Delhi Government. Spolia also asked the Principal Secretaries, Secretaries to pay special focus on resettlement and unauthorised colonies as "without ensuring cleanliness in these colonies, it is going to be difficult to achieve better results in all parts of the city," he stressed.

Any leniency or lukewarm response would not be tolerated, Spolia said. He asked the Commissioners of the civic bodies to issue strict instructions to the staff members to effectively undertake activities under Swachhta Abhiyan and MCD staff to pull up their socks and submit photographs of the part of colonies where the garbage has been fully removed.

Spolia directed the heads of departments to inspect their own institutions along with institutions pertaining to other departments and submit reports of the inspection by next week in a standardized format, which is being prepared.

"This would help the highest authority to easily evaluate the progress. The action reports submitted by the departments for the month of November and December, 2014 are being consolidated so that specific issues for pointed action could be derived," he added.
