MoS takes note of the incident, asks Jet Airways to look into matter

A Delhi resident has filed a complaint with the consumer court against Jet Airways over the alleged rescheduling of his flight from Lucknow to Delhi on July 27. Vipul Singh, a professional from Delhi had booked two tickets for travelling from Lucknow to Delhi on Friday's 7.05 pm flight in April 2018, however, Jet Airways allegedly put Singh on the 3.40 pm flight citing cancellation of the former.

Singh said, "I had booked two tickets from Lucknow to Delhi in April 2018 in an evening flight considering I am travelling there for a medical purpose, however, Jet Airways put me on an afternoon flight, which I cannot take considering I have a doctor's appointment. This is mental agony and they should compensate me."

Singh added, "I had requested Jet Airways to book me on any flight after 5 pm but they said there was no availability of any such flight. However, later I found a 6 pm flight on my route, and I requested Jet Airways to put me on that flight but they did not, citing that it was booked. Now if I book any flight a day prior, I will have to spend more."

Further, Singh also took his grievance to Twitter. After which, Jayant Singh, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation asked Jet Airways to follow up.

A Jet Airways spokesperson said, "A guest booked on Jet Airways flight 9W 886 from Lucknow to Delhi of 27th July was automatically re-accommodated on 9W 856 due to cancellation of his scheduled flight of date. The guest's request for accommodation on an alternate flight (9W 663) of date was initially regretted due to operational reasons, but was subsequently offered on 11th July, pending confirmation from his end. The same has again been confirmed and informed to the guest.
Guest's subsequent request for compensation and complimentary upgrade, lounge access have been regretted in line with the airline policy."

In an email reply to Singh, Jet Airways said, "With regard to your email, we were trying to book you on flight 9W 663/27th July, however, we regret we are unable to confirm the same as the flight is completely booked. We can, however, check for another date as per your choice. We regret our inability to upgrade you to premiere or provide lounge facility at Lucknow."

Meanwhile, Singh said, "On Thursday late evening, Jet Airways contacted me to accommodate me in 6.10 pm flight but now I have already made alternate arrangement in the afternoon, and now I do not want anything from them but will not withdraw my complaint."
