From online to offline, the Capital will witness the first Meme Fest bringing alive memes that have regaled, amused and entertained netizens. To be held at DLF Place, Saket, the three-day long event will have panel discussions on what drives the content, the idea behind memes, how it has turned into an industry of its own, besides other activities celebrating the love for memes.
The event will bring administrators and founders of popular meme pages on social media for MemeXTalks for a candid conversation into the know-how of memes, what spins their popularity, generating content and their journey to becoming 'MemeLord'. To cater to the generation that is hooked to the virtual world, a pop-culture quiz will also be held as well as a 'meet and greet with memes' where visitors can get selfies clicked with artists dressed as famous memes. An Uno competition is also on the list for fun activities at the Meme Fest.
Talking to DNA, Divesh Gupta, co-founder, Sticky India that is one of the organisers for the Meme Fest, said, "The objective behind a fest of this sort has stemmed from the love of memes that we all share. Memes are the biggest cultural phenomenon and since the inception of this concept, the primary objective has always been to bring them to the physical world." He further states, "Our target audience is everyone who loves memes and that's what our tagline reinstates. This fest is 'of the meme, by the meme and for the meme'."
Meanwhile, Muckth Dograa, who conceptualised the idea for the event, shared, "The evolution of memes as an art form has been the most enticing factor. From a mere form of entertainment to being one of most effective marketing tools, memes have come a long way and surely deserve a fest of their own in the offline world."
