The Delhi University approved the Delhi government’s list of nominees for the College Governing Bodies (GB) of 28 government-funded colleges during an emergent meeting of the varsity’s Executive Council (EC) that lasted till late on Wednesday night.
The EC members approved the names suggested by the government with a few exceptions. “We have approved 280 names for the Governing Bodies, which includes 140 names sent by the government. However we objected and withheld four names from the government list as it had some issues,” said Rajesh Jha, an EC member and a professor at Rajdhani College.
The move is expected to end the deadlock between the government and the university over the GB names. The salaries of the employees in these 28 colleges were pending over two month due to the non-formation of the GBs.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, the EC members protested in the well of the House over the pending issue of regularisation of ad-hoc teachers.
