The third-year student alleged that the professor used to send her lewd messages and made vulgar calls until she confronted him and recorded the incident

A female student at Delhi University's Bharti College wrote to the Vice-Chancellor (VC) on Tuesday urging him to initiate an immediate action against a professor for allegedly harassing her over a period of time.

The third-year student alleged that the professor used to send her lewd messages and made vulgar calls until she confronted him and recorded the incident. The video has been circulating on social media app WhatsApp also.
"When I confronted him in a college classroom, he accepted all the allegations and said he can give an explanation. He even begged me to not to raise the issue as he is a married man having a child," the girl said in the letter. She also sent a Compact Disc (CD) with the recording of the incident to the VC.

"I am being constantly threatened by the teacher that I shall be suspended and a case will be filed against me. My career is at stake. Kindly look into the matter," she added. Despite several attempts, the VC's office did not respond for a comment.

Officials at the college, however, claimed that they are investigating the concerned video. "No written complaint was received from the girl until Tuesday evening. The college's Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is already investigating the video circulating on social media,"said College's acting principal Dr Mukti Sanyal.

Meanwhile, members of the Congress-backed NSUI and DU Students Union (DUSU) will organise a protest outside the college on Wednesday demanding immediate suspension of the teacher. However, no police complaint has been made in the case as of now.
