DMRC starts Noida-Greater Noida test runs

In a step closer to connecting Noida and Greater Noida, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) flagged off of the first test run on the Noida – Greater Noida Corridor on Tuesday. The major part of this 29.7 km-long Standard Gauge Corridor having 21 stations, was completed in November 2017. Once operational, it will make travelling convenient for those headed to Greater Noida that has emerged as a corporate hub.

The new route that will have 19 trains running across with a seating capacity of 186 passengers each, and four coaches per train. The total passenger capacity of the train (Seating + Standing) is around 1,000 passengers if packed completely.

The trains will also have colour coordinated seats to indicate reserved seats for ladies, senior citizens and differently abled persons.

With an Aqua Blue colour theme for the exterior, it will also have aero dynamic front profile, and wide wind screens glass with front evacuation arrangement. This corridor will have trains running at a maximum speed of 80 kmph, clocking an average speed of 37.5 kmph. All trains are well lit with energy efficient LED lights both in the interiors and exteriors. As is in other coaches of the Metro, in this line too, each coach will have ports for mobile and USB charging, backlit LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays), and dynamic route maps (DRM).

These DRMs will provide necessary information like operating route, current and next stations, interchange stations, direction of door opening and other important / emergency messages, especially to passengers with hearing impairment. Dedicated space has been provided for wheel chair based commuters in driving trailer cars at both the ends of the trains. Provision of Lumber support/ backrest near wheel chair area has also been provided.

For visually impaired passengers, digital voice announcements regarding train and route information and announcement of station will be made in both Hindi and English. Chime sound indicating opening and closing of doors is also in built.

The Rolling Stock of this corridor is being procured from CRRC Limited, a State owned Chinese Rolling Stock Manufacturer. DMRC had signed the MoU on behalf of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Ltd. with CRRC Corporation Limited in March 2016. The Standard Gauge trains are being manufactured in the Nanjing Plant.
