DU has denied promotion of nearly 3,000 teachers and the counting of past service for promotion

The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has called for a Pen Down Strike and Public Meeting at the Arts Faculty Gate on Wednesday to demand the withdrawal of the retrospective application of Academic Performance Indicators (API) system in the University.

DU has denied promotion of nearly 3,000 teachers and the counting of past service for promotion. Members of the DUTA Executive and other teachers sat on a dharna outside the Vice-Chancellor's office on Tuesday to protest against the University Administration for still not issuing confirmation letters to teachers appointed through due process. The period of probation was for 12 months.

The protesters pointed out that the teachers have been harassed and denied their right to confirmation. Though very few teachers have received their confirmation letter, the DUTA belaboured its demand that there will be no further delay in issue of confirmation letters.
