Fire brigade is investigating if the factory had No Objection Certificate

No one was injured in the incident

A major fire gutted a battery manufacturing factory building in east Delhi's Patparganj on Tuesday afternoon. Senior officers said firefighters struggled for hours to contain the blaze. No one was injured in the incident.

According to Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer of the Delhi Fire Services, the fire broke out around 12:15 pm. One of the workers inside the factory spotted smoke coming out of one corner on the first floor of the building and alerted others. Soon, as the smoke grew dense and the fire was spotted, the workers informed the security which called up the fire department.

"At 12:35 pm, a call was received and at least 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. All the occupants had vacated the building before firefighters reached. It took more than two hours to contain the fire and by 2:45 pm, the situation was under control," added Garg.

He said it is being investigated if the factory had a No Objection Certificate or not.
