Girl commits suicide over issues with fiance in Ghaziabad

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Priyanka Verma (25), who hails from Rajasthan's Dadavara Kota.

A 25-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan at her rented accommodation owing to issues with her fiancé in the Amrapali Village Society in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad on Monday evening. However, the police have not recovered a suicide note from the spot.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Priyanka Verma (25), who hails from Rajasthan's Dadavara Kota. She was found hanging to the ceiling fan of her room at the paying guest accommodation where she had recently shifted a month ago.

"We received a call at around 6:30 pm about the incident from her friend. We reached the spot and have sent the body for post-mortem examination. We have not recovered any suicide note from the spot and we are investigating the matter from all angles," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police(city), Ghaziabad.

Police said during the intial investigation, it was revealed that Verma called her friend and told her that her fiancé has refused to marry her and everything is over. The friend reached the flat and found her hanging to the ceiling fan with a dupatta, informed the police.

"We have informed the deceased's family about the incident and have asked the fiancé to join questioning. We have also taken the girl's phone in possession to investigate the matter," said Tomar.

Verma lived with her three friends in a PG in Amrapali Village Society. Se was employed in a company in Noida and had come to Ghaziabad a month ago.
