Inflation, corruption, security of women and development of city were the key issues for residents of East Delhi while they cast their vote for Delhi polls today.

The Malasi family from Mayur Vihar Phase I, which falls under Patpargang assembly seat, came together to vote, but all had different set of issues, which they considered as most important.

For 56-year-old Rakesh Malasi, a banker, inflation and corruption were the biggest issues that were at the back of his mind when he voted this time.

However, for his 55-year-old wife Suman, a teacher, her priority was education of a girl child. "No party had the agenda of girl's child education, which was very sad," she said.

For their 24-year-old daughter Prerena, who is also a banker with a multi-national bank said, "Security of women was the biggest issue for me. There are many areas in Mayur Vihar, which do not have street lights, which is a matter of concern. Plus, several areas of Mayur Vihar have also not seen development here."

Vijay Singh (32), said that inflation was the biggest issue for him. "The government employees salaries increased due to the Sixth Pay Commission, but what about the people working in private sector," he said.

Residents of Chilla village expressed their annoyance over the alleged lack of development in the area.

Vijay Kumar (40), a resident of Chilla village which falls under Trilokpuri assembly seat, said the area lacks basic amenities.
