Heavy rains in Delhi and its National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday morning brought relief from humidity, which was recorded at 88 per cent at 8.30 am the same day. The maximum temperature in the city, meanwhile, settled below the season's average. The maximum temperature settled at 32.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, while the minimum was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal, said an official of the Meteorological (MeT) department.
Meanwhile, the morning rain, which started around 9.30 in the morning, led to huge traffic jams at the peak office hours in the Capital. Office goers en route to Noida from Delhi and vice versa were caught in the slow movement of traffic. Vehicles moved at a painfully slow speed from Mayur Vihar towards Noida. It also slowed down on Expressway towards DND and Delhi. A lot of people complained about reaching late to their offices because of the traffic jams. "Morning is the worst time for rain. Though it did bring relief from the humidity, I got caught in a jam and reached late to work. There are so many riders with enjoying rain in the city," said Harish Menon, an IT professional.
The city received traces of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. The humidity oscillated between 88 and 56 per cent.
The Met office has forecast overcast skies, along with the possibility of few spells of light to moderate rains, for tomorrow. "The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 32 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weatherman said.
On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum settled at 28.2 degrees Celsius. The sky remained overcast throughout the day, making the weather pleasant along with a cool breeze.
