The corridor, an extension of the Green Line, missed its 2016 deadline due to delay in land acquisition

The Delhi Metro's much-awaited Mundka to Bahadurgarh corridor is expected to be completed by December, this year. The corridor linking Mundka in west Delhi to Bahadurgarh in Haryana will come as a major relief to lakhs of commuters, who frequent this stretch on a daily basis.

The corridor, which is an extension of the Green Line (Inderlok/Kirti Nagar-Mundka), missed its March, 2016, deadline. According to the officials, the project was delayed because acquisition of land to start the construction was a long process.

The officials, however, added that as much as 87 per cent of the work on the 11.181 km corridor has been finished. The corridor, which will considerably reduce the travel time between Haryana and the Capital, will have seven stations — City Park, Bahadurgarh Bus Stand, Modern Industrial Estate, Tikri Border, Tikri Kalan, Ghevra, and Mundka Industrial Area. Of these, four stations — Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, and Tikri Border — will be in Delhi while the rest will be in Haryana.

According to the officials, one of the key features of the Line is that it will be a straight corridor. "The elevated corridor passing through the Rohtak Road will be more or less straight. It would have the least number of turns in the entire Metro network," an official said.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted by the Metro authorities revealed that as many as 142,527 passengers will be using the new corridor, and the number will reach 197,160 by 2020.

After the completion of the corridor, the ride from the City Park station in Haryana to Mundka will take only 20 minutes, while till Inderlok and Kirti Nagar, the journey will be take 45 minutes.
