In the wake of rising incidents of crime against women, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to impart self-defence training to its female employees.
"The civic body's security department and the workers union is organising a 10-day self-defence training programme for women employees," a senior NDMC official said.
"The workshop starting tomorrow will go on till April 30. Women safety and self-defence trips will be shared by expert trainers from the Special Police Unit for Women and Children," the official said.
After the conclusion of the workshop, the women employees will also give a demo of the skills learnt on 'Mazdoor Divas' which is on May 1, the official added.
