According to the WHO, the chronic ailment affects approximately 42 crore people worldwide with China topping the list with 11.43 crore people suffering from diabetes followed by India at 7.29 crore in 2017. Due to proven better results, a recent survey confirmed that most of the patients in India are now moving towards more economical and safer herbal medicine to tackle diabetes, particularly Type-2 Diabetes in which the body does not produce enough insulin or respond properly to it.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the prevalence of diabetes is predicted to double globally from 171 million in 2000 to 366 million in 2030 with a maximum increase in India. It is predicted that by 2030 diabetes mellitus may afflict up to 79.4 million individuals in India i.e. nearly nine percent of India's population is likely to be affected from diabetes that takes a toll on vital organs and damages tissues.
