Large amounts of illicit liquor being transported on the occasion of Holi from Delhi to neighbouring states was seized by police in Shahdara. Senior officers said that in three different incidents, two accused were arrested and in total 7,333 bottles of illicit liquor were seized.

In all three incidents, reported from Vivek Vihar, Seemapuri and MS Park area, police staff and the patrolling teams conducted raids and arrested the accused. DCP Shahdara, Nupur Prasad said, in the first incident, an SUV was intercepted in Vivek Vihar and a thorough checking led to the recovery of 145 cartons containing 7,250 quarters for sale in Haryana only. The driver, however, managed to flee.

It was on the same day in Seemapuri when a person was chased and 83 bottles of liquor being transported illegally were recovered from him. He was identified as Zakir belonging to Delhi's Seemapuri area.

In the MS Park area, it was during patrolling when a police team saw a suspicious person with a white plastic bag. On checking, it was found containing 16 bottles of illegal liquor. During interrogation, the accused was identified as Wasim, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
