Rain relief in National Capital after sultry Saturday

Parts of the national Capital such as Dhaula Kuan, Dwarka, Delhi cantonment received very heavy rainfall in the afternoon, which succeeded the drizzle in the morning.

Sunday cheer doubled for Delhiites as rains lashed parts of the city, bringing relief from the hot and humid weather. Mercury also dropped to 34 degrees Celsius, making the weather pleasant. The city received 5.3 mm rainfall.

Parts of the national Capital such as Dhaula Kuan, Dwarka, Delhi cantonment received very heavy rainfall in the afternoon, which succeeded the drizzle in the morning. Visibility was considerably reduced because of the rain in the afternoon. Other parts of Delhi such as RK Puram, Sarojini Nagar, Mayur Vihar were also lashed with rain. The meteorological department had predicted heavy rainfall in the morning. The sky which was overcast since morning, turned pitch black at around 12:30 in the afternoon, giving the impression of an evening. It started raining soon after. Cars switched on their lights because of the low visibility and poor light while two-wheeler drivers reached for cover at bus stops.

Delhi had braved a sultry weather on Saturday even as some parts received light showers. The minimum temperature settled at 27.4 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels oscillated between 86 per cent at 8:30 in the morning to 91 per cent in the evening. The weatherman has predicted moderate rain on Monday. The sky will remain largely cloudy. Maximum temperature is likely to settle at 35 degrees Celsius.
