A Bharatiya Janata Party worker has submitted a complaint to the police, alleging that he has received an extortion call demanding Rs 50 lakh at the behest of Mukim Kala gang. Pushker Singh (39), a member of the BJP, alleged that he had received extortion calls on Friday night and Saturday morning, where the caller threatened him of dire consequences if he failed to give them Rs 50 lakh.

"At 9.45 pm, I received a call from an unknown number where the caller demanded Rs 50 lakh and threatened me with dire consequences, if I failed to hand over the money to him. He further said that I don't know the Mukim Kala gang properly and I should be wary of them. The number on true caller showed that it belonged to Haryana," said Singh.

He further states that he submitted a complaint on Friday night itself. Singh, who runs a construction business in Greater Noida, said that he had received another extortion call five days ago, but he took it for a prank call.

The police have registered a case against unknown persons for extortion. "On the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered under sections 386 and 504 for extortion. No arrest has been made yet," said Brajesh Kumar Verma, station house officer, Kasna Police station.
