The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has given look after charge to the senior teachers in its primary schools where the posts of principals had been lying vacant for quite some time. The decision was taken in the interest of the students and to provide an improved and conducive atmosphere for learning.

The SDMC stated that 120 senior teachers are being given the look after charge on the basis of the parameters laid down for promotions by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). The teachers being offered the look after charge have been considered on the basis of their ACRs, performance and vigilance report.

At 581 SDMC primary schools, 140 posts of principals are vacant, where the process of filling up the vacancies is on. 120 teachers have been selected for the look after charge in these schools.

A panel has also been constituted to fill the vacancies in the primary schools from time to time. A few vacant posts will continue to remain so keeping in view the number of posts reserved for the approved categories in the Education Department under the SDMC.
