Special Cell of Delhi Police arrests drug trafficker

According to the police, Khan, a resident of Bareilly was part of the inter-state drug trafficking gang, members of which were also arrested by the cell earlier this year.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a drug trafficker carrying a reward of Rs one lakh and recovered fine quality heroin worth Rs four crores from him. The accused has been identified as Riyaz Khan alias Babu.

According to the police, Khan, a resident of Bareilly was part of the inter-state drug trafficking gang, members of which were also arrested by the cell earlier this year. In January this year, drug traffickers identified as Savej, Ashique Ali and Anwar alias Mama were arrested by the Special Cell.

The earlier arrested accused had told the police that they brought heroin and other drugs from Jharkhand at the instance of Khan. On Saturday, Khan was taking shelter at the residence of his brother in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. A team was sent and Khan was taken into custody.

During his personal search, two mobile phones were recovered from his possession which were used by him for drug trafficking activities.

"Khan is involved in the trade of drug supply for the last five to six years. He graduated in B-Tech from Allahabad University and later did his post-graduation as well. He was lured by Farid, a resident of his village into the drug trade," said Sanjeev Yadav, DCP, Special Cell.

He worked with Farid but gradually he developed his own network of drug traffickers. Currently, he was procuring heroin from Farid and later passing on to his contacts in Delhi and NCR.
