The special cell of Delhi Police arrested three persons in possession of 30 kg of heroin worth Rs 120 crore in the international market. This is one of the largest drug hauls made by the special cell sleuths this year. The special cell has so far seized around 198 kg of heroin this year.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Abdul Rashid (26), Arbaj Mohammad (21), Mohhmad Nazim (22), all from Bhilwara in Rajasthan.
Officials said the arrest was made from south Delhi's RK Puram area. The accused had created a secret cavity in their car to smuggle drugs. "The vehicle was used for carrying heroin from Manipur to Rajasthan," said Pramod Kushwah, deputy commissioner of police (special cell). He added that the accused are part of an international drug syndicate and were procuring the drug from a supplier in Manipur. The dealer would get supply from Myanmar in containers loaded with betel nuts.
This is the biggest seizure of heroin by the special cell, which has busted more than 20 narcotics cartels and recovered more than 198 kg of heroin in the past one year.
The trio was involved in supply of heroin to Rajasthan, MP and UP from Manipur for four years and has supplied over 200 kg heroin in the last one year.
The special cell has busted six modules operating from Manipur and has recovered more than 95 kg heroin in 2018. Myanmar heroin is comparatively cheap but is of relatively good quality in comparison to the illicit heroin produced in the traditional opium cultivation areas.
