Three-storey building collapses in Sadar Bazaar

The building, located in Sadar Bazaar, was being used as a godown and is a few meters away from New Delhi Railway Station. The incident occured around 5 pm and no casualties were reported.

The collapse of the building was the second such incident in the national Capital after a landfill collapse in Ghazipur, earlier in the day. Two people were killed while six other were rescued by locals.

A building collapsed in Paan Mandi in New Delhi's Sadar Bazaar area on Friday evening. No casualties were reported. The incident occurred around 5 pm after which a call was made to the Fire department.

"One person received some minor injuries and was released after some first-aid treatment. Our Assistant Division officer Mehmood took control of the situation. It was a 30-metre square area building and at the time of collapse nobody was inside," said Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Services.

The collapse of the building was the second such incident in the national Capital after a landfill collapse in Ghazipur, earlier in the day. Two people were killed while six other were rescued by locals.

The building which was used as a godown in the busy market area just a few hundred meters away from the New Delhi Railway Station was the second such incident to occur in the Capital on Friday. Earlier in the day, two people were killed when a Ghazipur landfill site collapsed. Police rescued six others.
