Two arrested by Delhi Police for extorting money from businessmen

The accused were identified as Manoj Meena and Himanshu Jha who are the residents of Githorini and Nangloi, respectively.

The North-West district of the Delhi Police on Sunday claimed that they have arrested two persons who were threatening a businessman and trying to extort money from him. The police claimed that they chased them for seven days and at the end, they were able to catch them. The accused were identified as Manoj Meena and Himanshu Jha who are the residents of Githorini and Nangloi, respectively.

"Mobile phone and sim card used in the crime, along with documents, which were used for obtaining the SIM card have been recovered from their possession," said the police officer. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan said that on August 19, they lodged an FIR in the case and with the help of technical surveillance and specific information provided by the sources, the team was able to identify the suspects behind the extortion racket.

"With the help of information from reliable sources, the arrest was made in the case," said the police officer. During the interrogation, they disclosed that in order to make some money, they had planned to make extortion calls to rich persons across the city.
