Union Minister Vijay Goel, mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Aadesh Gupta along with other dignitaries would carry out a foot march in Chandni Chowk area on Wednesday. Goel will later hold a meeting with various stakeholders in the re-development process of Chandni Chowk.
Veena Virmani, Chairman of Standing Committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, members of Traders Associations and various heritage lovers are expected to join the meeting to make sure that residents, shopkeepers and tourist are not adversely affected during the re-development process.
The meeting will be followed by a foot march to engage people and create awareness regarding the re-development of Chandni Chowk. According to Goel, some people have raised concerns about the destructions of the architectural heritage of Chandni Chowk. The meeting and foot march is to trace the ground reality and come up with a solution.
"In 1998, I had initiated developmental works from Red Fort to Fathepuri Masjid, however slowly the situation has reached back to its previous state," said Goel.
