An argument over parking space resulted in vandalism of a restaurant in Kalkaji area of New Delhi on Saturday. According to reports, 'Dilli 19' eatery was attacked by group of delivery boys who earlier in the evening had an argument over parking lot with owners.
ANI quoted Dilli 19 restaurant owner, Rohit as saying, " "Some delivery boys came to pick orders at 7 pm. They don't understand how to park a bike. The beat officer intervened and asked them to leave." Rohit further said that after being dispersed by the police, the miscreants returned few hours later and vandalised the restaurant."
According to Rohit, WhatsApp was used by the group of delivery boys to get around 25 people, who came and started raising slogans. Soon the situation went out of control, as the number of protestors swelled to around 80-100. They vandalised the restaurant at around 11.30 PM. Being a weekend, there were lot of patrons in the eatery, who had to escape through the kitchens, according to the owner. The delivery boys believed the owner had alerted the policeman and hence took out their anger on him.
The CCTV footage shows a group of angry men rushing towards the restaurant and then causing mayhem. They are seen to break property of the restaurant even as some customers are seen fleeing the site. Pictures show glass panel being shattered and tables and chairs been broken. So far no one has been arrested in this brazen act of violence.
