The Board exams for classes 10 and 12 have been cancelled and postponed, respectively by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) amid the massive surge in the COVID-19 caseload in the country. The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4 till June 14. The decision regarding the cancellation and postponement of the CBSE exams 2021 came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and other concerned officials. As the Board announced this decision, it also left students with some questions. CBSE class 10 students want to know how they will be promoted and what evaluation criteria will be laid down by the board to allot them marks.
For CBSE class 10 students:
The Union Education Minister said that they will be promoted based on internal assessment. Pokhriyal said CBSE class 10 students will be promoted on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by CBSE. "Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams," tweeted the education minister.
For CBSE class 12 students:
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said fresh dates will be announced after June 1, following a review of the COVID-19 situation. A notice of at least 15 days will be given to the students before the start of the examinations so that there is no inconvenience to the students,
Fresh guidelines are awaited to be released by the CBSE on the internal assessment of Class 10 and 12. For the time being, CBSE Board Exam 2021, practical examination, project and internal assessment is scheduled to be held between March 1 to June 11, 2021.
