Some students said that nations where cases are much lower than India have cancelled the exams but CBSE is adamant on conducting exams.

Amid rising coronavirus COVID-19 cases across India, several students who are set to appear in CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 are requesting the Central government to cancel or postpone the upcoming CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021. The students took Twitter to demand the cancellation of CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 and tarted trending #cancelboardexams2021 to protest against the upcoming examinations.

The CBSE Board Exams 2021 are scheduled to start from May 4. Some students said that nations where COVID-19 cases are much lower than India have cancelled the exams but Central Board of Secondary Education is adamant on conducting CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021.

“Please sir cancel board exams for this year. We students are requesting you. Why aren’t you taking any decision regarding 10th and 12th? Is giving ‘exams’ more important than ‘health’!! Even though most of us are not even prepared for giving offline exams,” wrote one of the students.

Some students said that the government could conduct the board exams online keeping in mind the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. “We can do it online because Bharat is clearly witnessing a second wave and in this scenario, anything that causes crowding must be avoided! If offline exams happen right now then we are taking a huge risk. Health must get priority over examinations,” a student said.

Meanwhile, the CBSE has asked the students to not panic, asserting that the Board will take all precautions for the safety of the students during the CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021. Speaking to India TV, CBSE Examination Controller Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj informed that number of exam centers have been increased by 45-50 percent in order to maintain social distancing and curb the spread of coronavirus.

“We will follow Covid SOPs released by the government of India. Plus, we are formulating our list of guidelines which will be released soon. CBSE will also create awareness among students and parents,” the portal quoted the CBSE official as saying.
