While announcing the postponement of class 12 board exams, the CBSE had said that a decision will be taken on June 1 after reviewing COVID situation.
With the month of June just around the corner, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students and their parents are a worried lot. The final decision on conducting the CBSE Class 12 Board exams 2021 will be taken by reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the country next month. The exams could either be cancelled or further postponed.
The CBSE classes 10 and 12 board exams 2021 were to commence from May 4 but owing to the massive spike in COVID-19 cases amid the second wave, the Board cancelled the class 10 board exams 2021 and postponed the class 12 board exams 2021.
While announcing the postponement of the class 12 board exams, the CBSE had said that a decision would be taken on June 1 after reviewing the Coronavirus situation in the country.
Meanwhile, students have begun a social media campaign against the conduction of the CBSE board exams 2021 in the middle of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the National Council of CBSE Schools urged Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to conduct the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 board examination even if it is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation even as the demand for the cancellation of the CBSE class 12 board exams is growing. The National Council of CBSE Schools is of the inference that the Class 12 pass certificate was the most important document considered for entry into various higher educational institutions.
has also come forward to propose the cancellation of the CBSE Board exams in the physical form for Class 12 students. The council has suggested alternative examination patterns for the students during this pandemic.
Also, a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court by Tony Joseph, a teacher from Kerala, supporting the conduction of the CBSE board exams, saying that the scrapping of the board exams could be unfair for the students.
He said, “Class 12 exam is an integral part of the life of a student and important for admission to higher educational institutions.” People supporting the conduction of board exams are saying that its cancellation can hamper the education system.
Another plea has been filed by parents and teachers, urging the Supreme Court to intervene and take action against the conduction of CBSE board exams 2021 in the middle of the pandemic, as physical exams can turn into super spreader events.
It is to be noted that summer vacations have started in schools but a special schedule has been set by the CBSE affiliated schools for those students who are set to appear in CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 to clear their doubts. Schools are planning to hold a test after the beginning of online classes after the summer vacation, a test will be held.
The schools took this decision after Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' did not make an announcement about the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 following a meeting with education secretaries of different states.
During the high-level meeting, Pokhriyal said that the second wave has forced the education institutions to remain close for a longer period. "While we have ensured that students are learning at home through various initiatives, we should focus on the needs of the aspirational districts where there is a digital gap so that we can empower the local bodies, NGOs and the parents and teachers," he added.
Pokhriyal also sought suggestions from states on the issue of the pending class 12 board exams. The CBSE Board exams were scheduled to begin on May 4 but were postponed because of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. "To conduct the Board Exams for Class XII, the situation will be reviewed on June 1 by the Board," the Education Ministry said.
