After the success of ISRO's Chandrayaan 3 mission on August 23, ISRO is now time ready to launch its first-ever solar mission named Aditya-L1. This mission is focused on studying the Sun. The launch is scheduled for September 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Today, we will make you meet the team behind India's solar mission and know their education qualifications.
Dr Sankarasubramanian K
A senior scientist named Dr Sankarasubramanian K has been appointed by ISRO as the Principal Scientist for the Aditya-L1 Mission. Dr Sankarasubramanian K is an experienced scientist specialising in solar studies at the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru.
He also holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Bangalore University through the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. His research focuses on areas like the Solar Magnetic field, Optics, and Instrumentation.
Nikarshaji
Nikarshaji is a woman scientist from Sengottai, Tenkasi district, who is working as the Aditya L-1 Project Director. In the academic year 1978-79, Nikarshaji studied in the 10th standard at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School and scored 433 marks.
Similarly, in the 1980-81 academic year in class 12, she scored 1008 marks. Later, Nikarshaji completed her undergraduate engineering course from 1982 to 1986 at Government Engineering College, Nellie.
On the other hand, just a few days back ISRO successfully landed Chandrayaan 3 at the South Pole of the Moon.
S Somanath, Secretary, of the Department of Space and Chairperson, was the leading man behind the success of Chandrayaan 3 along with P Veeramuthuvel, the Project Director of Chandrayaan 3, and Kalpana Kalahasti who was the deputy project director for Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Scientists at ISRO who are behind Chandrayaan 3's success have also studied at respectable institutions such as IIT Kharagpur, IISc Bangalore, etc.
