Teachers have played an instrumental role in our growth and development. When we pass out of school or college, another batch comes, but the teacher remains a constant. And because of this, they are an influence to tens and thousands of students throughout their career.

Take the example of Professor Harish Chandra Verma. The experimental physicist, who taught at IIT Kanpur for 38 years, decided to call it a day.

In an emotional post, both on Facebook and Twitter, Dr Verma wrote, “Finally locked my IITK lab and submitted the keys to Office. End of 38 years of formal teaching and research.”
