The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), on Friday, announced the much-awaited final results of the Civil Services (CSE) Main examination 2020. Of the 761 students who cleared the exam, 30-year-old Pooja Kadam from Maharashtra's Latur district also secured the 577th rank.
But what is heroic about Pooja's achievement is that the resident of Taka village in Ausa tehsil managed to secure the rank with just 15% eyesight. This was Pooja's second attempt which she cleared.
For the unversed, Pooja graduated from Pune's Fergusson College and completed her post-graduation from Delhi's Indira Gandhi National Open University in Political Science.
As for the exam toppers, UPSC said that the exam was aced by Shubham Kumar who secured AIR #1 rank, meanwhile, Jagrati Awasthi secured the second position, and Ankita Jain, the third.
"Based on the result of the written part of Civil Services Examination, 2020 held by the Union Public Service Commission in January 2021 and the interviews for Personality Test held in August-September, 2021, a list, in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended for appointment to Indian Administrative Service; Indian Foreign Service; Indian Police Service; and Central Services, Group 'A' and Group 'B' has been released," read an official statement issued by the UPSC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated all the achievers and wished them success in their careers.
For those who couldn't clear the exam, PM Modi tweeted, "To those young friends who did not clear the UPSC examination, I would like to say- you are very talented individuals. There are more attempts awaiting. At the same time, India is full of diverse opportunities waiting to be explored. Best wishes in whatever you decide to do."
