Many aspirants spent years preparing to crack the UPSC civil services exam. Those who are able to crack the IAS exam are believed to have achieved a peak in their career. For most people becoming an IAS officer is the ultimate goal.

There are many examples of aspirants putting a lot of hard work into preparing for the exam and getting through. Today, we will talk about one person who left his job as an IAS officer and became a successful entrepreneur. 

Vivek Kulkarni is the founder of Brickwork India and was previously an IAS officer. Born in 1957, Kulkarni graduated in Mechanical engineering from Karnataka University. 

After completing graduation, he cracked the UPSC exam and became an IAS officer in 1983. He served as IAS Probationer of Mangalore, Karnataka. He was in service between December 1983 to May 1985.

After a few years of service, he decided to quit his position as an IAS officer and try something else. He went on to pursue an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. 

After returning to India, he worked as the Finance Secretary under the Government of Karnataka till 200. He was also the IT Secretary for four years. In 2003, He quit his job and set out to launch his own company. Kulkarni founded Brickwork India in September 2003 along with wife, Sangeeta.
