Ending all speculations, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday (July 6) announced that the entrance exams of JEE Main 2021 which were earlier cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic will now be held. The Minister announced that the first session of JEE Main 2021 will be held from July 20 to 25 and the second session will be held from July 27 to August 2.
It is to be noted that first session of JEE Main 2021 entrance exam was scheduled to be held in April, while the second session was scheduled for May. According to the Education Minister, the admit card and result declaration dates of JEE Main 2021 entrance exam will be announced later.
Shortly after Pokhriyal's announcement, the National Testing Agency (NTA) reopened the application window for the JEE Main 2021 April/July session at its official websites - nta.ac.in or jeemain.nta.nic.in. The NTA said that students who are interested in changing their exam centres or those who want to register for JEE Main 2021 entrance exam should log at at the official website from July 6 to 8. The NTA announced that the last date to submit the online application fee is July 8. Candidates who are interested to apply for the May/August session of JEE Main 2021 entrance exam can submit application forms between July 9 to 12.
How to apply for JEE Main 2021 application window
Step 1. Go to the official website of NTA, jeemain.nta.nic.in
Step 2. Click on the JEE Main application form.
Step 3. Register for the exams with the required credentials. Submit.
Step 4. Fill the application form. Make the online payment for the fees. Submit.
Step. 5. Download the form for future reference.
The candidates who have applied earlier for April/May Session of JEE Main 2021 entrance exam will be allowed to modify their particulars like session, category, subject, etc from July 6 to 8 for the April/July session and from July 9 to 12 for the May/August session.
The JEE Main 2021 entrance exam will be conducted only for Paper 1, that is BE/BTech. The candidates interested to appear in Paper 2A BArch and/or Paper 2B BPlanning need to apply for the same papers only for the May/August session.
According to NTA, no correction window will be available after the application form closes on 8 July for (postponed) April Session and on July 12 for (postponed) May session.
A candidate can also withdraw from (postponed) April/May sessions by following the procedure provided by the NTA in the application Form.
Though the Education Minister announced the dates of JEE Main 2021 entrance exam, he did not say anything about the NEET 2021 entrance exam, As soon as Pokhriyal announced the JEE Main entrance exam dates, several students preparing for NEET 2021 entrance exam took to Twitter seeking an update from the NTA over the medical entrance exam date.
It is to be noted that the NTA had set August 1 as NEET 2021 entrance exam date but the application for NEET 2021 has not started yet. This means that it is highly unlikely that NEET 2021 entrance exam will take place on August 1.
