According to NTA, only one student was involved in malpractice and question paper was not circulated widely it would not be right to term it a leak.

Amid the growing demand for the cancellation of NEET 2021 entrance exam after it came out in open that the question paper for NEET 2021 entrance exam was circulated via WhatsApp about 37 minutes after the start of exam, the officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that the NEET 2021 cheating case cannot be called a leak just yet. The NTA officials made the statement while talking to a leading news portal.

It is to be noted that NEET 2021 question paper was sent to a student in Jaipur via WhatsApp and the student filled answer keys as a response to her message. According to NTA, since only one student was involved in malpractice and the question paper was not circulated widely it would not be right to termed it as a leak.

Notably, the use of mobile phones, cameras, and any other electronic devices were banned inside the NEET 2021 entrance exam hall. The incident has raised serious questions on the integrity of NTA too. A police probe is currently underway in this matter.

A 18-year-old candidate named Dineshwari Kumari was arrested by police along with invigilator Ram Singh and exam centre’s administration unit Mukesh for their alleged involvement in this case. According to reports, Dineshwari had paid Rs 35 lakh to get the question paper.

As per the rules laid doen by NTA, under unfair practices, the result of the candidate will be withheld and the NTA can also debar the candidate from appearing in NEET entrance exam for up to three years.

The NEET cheating case came days after the JEE Main scam case wherein as per reports the exam centre in Sonipat, Haryana was allegedly hacked.

Meanwhile, It is expected that the NTA would soon publish the final answer key of NEET 2021 entrance exam on its official website — ntaneet.nic.in soon. The NTA is likely to announce NEET 2021 entrance exam result on October 10. The NTA, however, is yet to make any official announcement in this regard.

If two candidates score the same marks, a tie-breaker formula will be used by NTA to calculate their marks. A candidate who has got higher marks in Biology will get preference in ranking. If the tie still exists, the marks of candidates in chemistry will get preference. If the tie still persists, the candidates with fewer incorrect answers in all papers will be ranked higher.
