School Reopening News: The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday issued an order to partially reopen schools from February 1. The state government said that the COVID guidelines will be strictly followed by students and teachers in the school. The state government has also made social distancing and wearing face masks mandatory for students and teachers.
Industrial training institutes, and polytechnic and engineering colleges in the state will also open from February 1. The decision to reopen these institutions was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur after reviewing the current coronavirus situation in Himachal Pradesh.
Apart of the guidelines, the management of these institutions will ensure strict use of face masks, social distancing and use of sanitisers on their premises.
In some places where there are vacations, schools will reopen from February 15 and the rest will reopen on February 1, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said.
Meanwhile, schools in Delhi for classes 10 and 12 will reopen from January 18 in the view of board exams. However, sending the child to school is completely optional for parents.
This will be the first time that the Delhi government allowed the opening of schools since March 19, 2020, when educational institutions shut down ahead of the first lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.
Several states have already opened schools with precautionary measures.
"In order to conduct activities pertaining to pre-board preparation and practical work, the Government and Government aided/unaided schools may call students of Class 10 and 12 only to school from 18th January," the Delhi Government said.
However, the government said that the student should be called to school only with the consent of parents.
