Haal-e-Dil and then Raaz 2, you didn’t have the solo lead until Jashn happened. This is the make or break movie for you isn’t it?
“It is definitely my biggest movie I do have to emerge a success story as a solo lead for my future as an actor. In my earlier films I either had a 5 minute role seeing which the critics wrote me off or I had the cushion because Emraan Hashmi was also there in Raaz 2. This is the movie which can make or break my career. After just 2 films, I have been lucky enough to land a solo lead and that too with the Bhatts. It’s time to prove a point that I can be a good actor. I have sacrificed a lot of things while making this movie.”

You have indeed lost your love life during the filming of this movie as Kangna and you went your separate ways.
“It is quite weird that I have gone through so many ups and downs while making this movie. I broke off with Kangna and that was a low point but my career is peaking. My songs have become chartbusters and I’m only concentrating on work which wasn’t happening when Kangna was around.

I’m just 21 and romance was not making me concentrate full steam on my career. Kangna was definitely a distraction and a nice one but I realised that I’m messing up with my priority as she had told me clearly that work was what she would first concentrate on. I decided to talk to her and go for an amicable break up. Love can wait but career can’t.”

But coming out of a relationship must have been heartbreaking for you?
“I don’t really believe in heartbreaks as when two mature people decide to go separate ways it’s doesn’t leave anyone with a scar on his or her heart. Neither of us have bitter feelings about each other.

We enjoyed the time we spent together but situations and circumstances change. I want to make a mark for myself. I’m an extremely proud man who works hard. I don’t want to be remembered as someone boyfriend. I’m extremely proud that I’m Shekhar Suman’s son and I’m trying to make the name Adhyayan Suman a brand in the industry.”

Rock On has already set a benchmark for films on music. Don’t you think comparisons with Farhan’s movie will be but natural?
“Actually there should be no comparison as both have different storylines. Jashn is a story of aspiration and Rock On wasn’t. Our film is thus more realistic in terms of emotions as it’s a coming of age film that narrates the story of a rock star.”
