Zee Cine Awards 2016: Deepika is the Best Actress, Salman the Best Actor this year
Bajirao Mastani and Masaan took away most of the awards at the Zee Cine Awards 2016.
The Zee Cine Awards 2016, which so far has had only popular awards given through Viewers’ Choice, gets bigger and better this year, as it introduces the Jury Awards. It was also India’s first Integrated National Award for cinema.
The awards ceremony took place in JIo Garden in Mumbai.
The Jury Awards have been instituted to ensure a high degree of fairness and transparency in the selection process. Renowned people from across the industry constitute the panel that will watch the releases of the year and choose the winners.
The panel members include filmmakers Rakesh Roshan, Anurag Basu, Leena Yadav, lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, sound designer Resul Pookutty and composer Shantanu Moitra.

Best Actor award goes to Salman Khan for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Director Kabir Khan collected the award on his behalf.
Best Actress award goes to Deepika Padukone for Bajirao Mastani.
Subhash Ghai calls Ranveer Singh to collect the award on behalf of Deepika. Ranveer comes on the stage and face times with Deepika. She said, "I am on a film set but I am so so happy. Thank you for the opportunity."
The wait is over! Best Film award goes to Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
In Viewers' Choice Category, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo received the 'Song of the Year' award.
Best Actress in Supporting Role goes to Shweta Triphati for Masaan.
Jury Award for Best Actress goes to Deepika Padukone for Piku and Best Actor award goes to Amitabh Bachchan for Piku and Ranveer Singh for Bajirao Mastani.
Jury Award for Best Film goes to Bajirao Mastani. Sanjay Leela Bansali received the jury award for the Best Director for the same.
Best Actor in Supporting Role goes to Sanjay Mishra for Masaan.
Award for Best Actor in Comic Role goes to Nawazuddin Siddiqui for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Siddiqui also received the award for Best Actor in Negative role for Badlapur. How ironic!
The Best Debutant Director award goes to Neeraj Ghaywan for Masaan.
Award for Best Debutant Female goes to Bhoomi Padnekar for Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Harshaali Malhotra for Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Award for Best Debutant Male goes to Vicky Kaushal for the film Masaan.
Best Playback Singer (Male) goes to two singers- Arijit Singh for 'Sooraj Dooba Hai' from the film Roy and Mohit Chauhan for 'Matargashti' from the film Tamasha. What's common here? Ranbir Kapoor!
The International icon award goes to Anil Kapoor.
The lifetime achievement award goes to Ajay Devgn's father Veeru Devgn, well-established stunt director in the Indian film industry.
He is accompanied by daughter-in-law Kajol on stage as he is not keeping too well.
As Ajay is shooting in Bulgaria he has sent a video message for his father. In the message he said, "My father has not been a father on screen. He has been a fighter in real life. He is my inspiration."
Juhi Chaturvedi received two awards for Piku namely Best Story and Best Dialogue.
Best Cinematography award goes to Sudeep Chatterjee for Bajirao Mastani.
