Monuments around the world lit up in purple as a tribute to the late musician, Prince.

The world of entertainment and not just music suffered a heavy blow with the passing of pop music legend Prince Rogers Nelson.

Prince's legacy is so great, that the world cried with the news of his demise.

In memoriam of the Prince, iconic monuments around the world, namely, Boston's Zakim Bridge, Los Angeles City Hall, Orlando Eye, Melbourne Arts Centre, San Francisco City Hall, amongst others lit up in purple hue in a silent condolence to the legend.

With Prince's signature track "Purple Rain", the colour purple has often been associated with him.
