In a 2017 interview with Times Of India, Yash and Radhika Pandit, while, speaking about their relationship revealed how they first met. The couple disclosed that they had met on the sets of the show, 'Nanda Gokula' in 2004. While narrating how the first meeting went, Radhika said that they had to share the same cab to go to the set and while they exchanged a formal 'hi' and 'hello', there was no further conversation between them. "I thought he was either just rude or that he probably had a lot of attitude, but felt that he was just not the type who could be friends with me," Radhika said, and Yash defended himself by saying, "I said 'hello' and got in. I usually take time to warm up to someone. Moreover, I remember aunty (Radhika's mother) was with her." "But his 'hello' was such that I didn't want to break the ice,' Radhika replied.

Destiny had a lot to do with Yash and Radhika coming together. One can say they were made for each other, and destiny played its part well to bring them face to face each time. Just like in 'Nanda Gokula' the actor starring opposite Radhika was replaced by Yash, the same thing had happened with their debut film, 'Moggina Manasu' in 2008. Yash replaced the actor to be cast as the male lead. In 2012, when Yash had starred in the film, 'Drama', the female lead had to be replaced and Radhika was cast in place of an actress who was already signed. Definitely made for each other!

It was during the shoot of 'Drama' that they finally broke the ice. "On the set, we usually sit together, eat and gossip and have fun. But this guy was always aloof. He was either reading or writing something by himself. And he used to do a lot of monitors and rehearsals," Radhika told Times of India. "But he slowly started opening up, especially since we used to travel together. Since we used to get picked up in the same vehicle, he had no choice. And I'm like the talkative person and I kind of spoke and made sure he spoke to me," she added.

In his interview, Yash revealed that Radhika and he never had the 'typical' dating scene. He said that they gradually came close and felt comfortable in each other's presence. He added that they would share every detail of their personal life with each other and that Radhika brought out a different side of him since he was never very close to anyone. "Somewhere down the line, I realized this was more than friendship. She started bringing a lot of happiness into my life. Even as friends, the point of view she had of life was unique and entirely different from mine. It was very real, full of life," Yash said. "I somehow feel she completes me. This combination is such ' I am a very practical person, but she is a romantic'," Yash added.

"I was very sure of what was happening. I wanted to propose to her, but I wasn't very confident," Yash said adding he didn't want to lose the friendship he had with Radhika. But finally one Valentine's Day, he did propose to Radhika (well, in a way) by placing a hamper on the top of her car while she was visiting a mall to watch a movie with her parents. While Radhika knew who it was from, it wasn't a proposal since it did not have the three big words written on them. So, they delayed talking about it. Later, Yash proposed to Radhika over the phone and asked for her to marry him. After nearly six months, Radhika accepted Yash's proposal.
