In a statement released by the Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil said, "After obtaining a warrant from a court, a search is being conducted at Sanjjanaa Galrani`s house for her alleged role in a drug case."
After actress Ragini Dwivedi, who is already in police custody for her alleged role in drug trafficking during high-end parties organized in Bengaluru, on Tuesday morning, the Karnataka, the City Crime Branch (CCB) Police conducted its raid at Kannada actress Sanjjana Galrani's residence for her alleged role in a drug case.
As part of the on-going war against drug menace in Karnataka, the raid was conducted at the Kannada actress' residence in the up market Indira Nagar area.
In a statement released by the Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil said, "After obtaining a warrant from a court, a search is being conducted at Sanjjanaa Galrani`s house for her alleged role in a drug case."
Soon after her name popped up in the drugs case, Sanjjanaa issued a statement. An excerpt from the statement read, “Coming to the drug topic, I have seen people drinking alcohol, partying in clubs and socializing during birthday party functions etc, but beyond that when I have nothing to do with it or no such “drugs” experience, it’s very irritating to get forced in media to talk about something you don’t know. I’m very saddened that our Kannada film industry’s name is dragged into this.”
Sanjjanaa acted in Ganda-Hendathi a Kannada movie which is a remake of super hit Emran Hashmi and Mallaika Sherawat starrer "Murder".
It was after Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut opened up about the industry and drug mafia nexus, that noted Kannada film-maker Indrajit Lankesh alleged that the drug mafia had gained its root in Sandalwood as well. He is alleged to have given 15-20 prominent names of Sandalwood stars, musicians and technicians who are allegedly indulging in drugs and who frequent high-end parties organized in the city.
The police sources disclosed that the raid at Sanjjanaa`s house was part of this operation and she is likely to be taken into custody for further investigations.

Born in Bengaluru, Sanjjanaa took up modelling during her college days and made her film debut with Tamil movie Oru Kadhal Seiveer in 2006, however it was with Kannada film Ganda Hendathi in the same year that she got her big break as a lead actor.
Sanjjanaa who has worked as a child artiste, has featured in more than 60 ads, including a Fastrack commercial with Bollywood actor John Abraham. Her sibling, Nikki Galrani, is also an actress.
