Salman Khan, the biggest superstar of Bollywood, is best known for his hatke characters and his action-packed entertainers. Salman is all set to rule the box office, yet again, as wrestler Sultan Ali Khan in the upcoming YRF film directed Ali Abbas Zafar.

1. Maine Pyar Kiya (1989)
Salman Khan made his debut as a lead actor with this film. Maine Pyar Kiya, the directorial debut of Sooraj Barjatya, is one of the top ten most successful films of India. The film gave the audience their 'ideal' boy in Salman's Prem. The success of his role here led to series of film in which he played characters named 'Prem'.
2. Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
This film showcased Salman's skills as a comedy actor. This film gave us a different 'Prem' altogether. This film had an average performance at the box office but went in subsequent years went on to become a cult film because of reruns on TV.
3. Hum Aapke Hai Koun (1994)
In the same year as Andaz Apna Apna, but in a totally different role Salman played the role of an ideal dewar in this film. It won the National Award for the most popular film.
4. Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998)
Khan won the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for this entertainer. From here began the trend of bare-chested and always in shape Salman Khan. The song 'Oh Oh Jaane Jana' was a hit among youngsters and Salman proved that he can rock it like a rockstar!
5. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)
Salman is well remembered for his pranks and his ease of expressing emotions through his character of Sameer. It was one of the more emotional roles he had done in his career so far.The film was also notable for his chemistry with lead actress Aishwarya Rai.
6. Tere Naam (2003)
Tere Naam was one of Salman's most critically acclaimed films. In the film, Salman plays Radhe Mohan, a man who loses his mind after falling in love.
7. Wanted (2009)
After a series of flops and myriad controversies, Salman made his comeback through this movie and rose to become a superstar. Wanted was the second highest grossing Bollywood movie of 2009. Salman became the most 'wanted' actor in Bollywood after this.
8. Dabangg (2010)
This movie gave us our Chulbul Pandey, an all new avatar for Salman, with some signature dance steps and iconic dialogues. Prem days were gone, Pandey days were in! This film earned around Rs 2.15 billion worldwide. The success of the film led to the making of its sequel, Dabangg 2, where he gave an equally power packed performance.
9. Ek Tha Tiger (2012)
Ek Tha Tiger earned Rs 100 crores in just 5 days and was a huge commercial hit! It was Salman's first film with YRF and with director Kabir Khan. The Dabbang actor now became the 'Tiger' of the industry with yet another entertaining film.
10. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2014)
Salman went on to work with Kabir Khan yet again in Bajrangi Bhaijaan but this time under his own banner, Salman Khan Films. The film and his portrayal of Bajrangi bagged Salman a lot of appreciation. Bhai became the jaan of many, thanks to the emotional connect that this movie made with the audience.
