63rd National Awards: Dhanush thanks co-producer Vetrimaaran after 'Visaranai' wins three awards

Director Vetrimaaran's 'Visaranai' is based on autodriver Chandrakumar's book in Tamil called 'Lock Up'.

National Award-winning actor Dhanush is also the producer of 'Visaranai' which bagged three National Awards at the 63rd National Awards announced on Monday. The actor stated that he was on cloud nine as this was the third National Award he had won. Dhanush was also the producer of the National Award-winning film Kaaka Muttai in 2015. 

Director Vetrimaaran's Visaranai which is based on autodriver Chandrakumar's book in Tamil called Lock Up bagged three awards today. The film bagged Best Tamil Film, Best Supporting Actor for Samuthirakani and Best Editing for late TE Kishore. 

Dhanush issued a statement to the media saying, "Sometimes you know right from the start of a film that the film is special. And Visaranai directed by Vetrimaaran is one such film. I am extremely happy for both Samuthirakani and late T E Kishore who won National Awards for this film. And since the film has won three awards I feel thrice the happiness. I must thank Vetrimaaran for this. I feel happy producing such films knowing that the Tamil audience will appreciate them. I will make more such quality films in future. I also thank the media for their support."
